Paris Day 3

For our final day in Paris, Sarah and I grabbed some lunch at a local sandwich place near our hotel. It turned out to be the right decision. Baggette (french bread), fromage (cheese), et jambon (ham) -- c'est parfait (it is perfect)! And it was quite tasty, even with it's simplicity.

We then went to the Louvre to see the famous works and discover other items along the way. We of course saw the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, and Aphrodite.

We also saw the "Medieval" Louvre: the castle uncovered during the excavation for the visitor center (Pyramid) of the Lourve -- quite interesting. Here is Sarah in the 'Donjon'.

So after some heavy lifting there we walked south of the Seine to the Palais (Palace) Luxembourg and the gardens surrounding it. We stopped at spots of interest on the way that caught our eye like this church and fountain (Saint Suplice).

Once we made it to the Palace and gardens we were impressed. The landscaping in the gardens was very nice -- flowers still in bloom. Another great suggestion from our Parisian friends in Memphis. Here is a picture of Sarah and I in the Palace gardens shooting toward the Palace.

We then walked back toward the Seine for our final dinner at a small family restaurant -- with wine of course.

After dinner and dessert, we worked our way back to our hotel taking detours the whole way back -- even taking the very long way to the hotel to soak in the last bits of Paris that were possible. Here are some pictures from that walk (Louvre at night and Opera House).

We are off to Rome tomorrow. In fact we are getting up early to get a taxi so I need to sign off.

Ciao!
