Day 1 in Paris

Well we have arrived safely to Paris around 2am Memphis time (9am Paris time an hour after the sun came up on our plane). We had a nice driving tour of Paris thanks to our cab driver who got lost, asked for directions from 4 different people -- finally I decided to pay attention to the streets, pulled out a map, and directed him to our hotel.

Original check in time was to be 12pm but our room wasn't going to be ready till 2pm so we had 3 hours to get oriented. We strolled south down to the Louvre and the River Seine and then headed into the Tuileries Garden. Here is a pic.
After that we went to the high end shopping district (St. Honore) and went to a great cafe. That's where we pulled out the Flip for some video.

Good times . . .

Since the cafe we have settled into our hotel, joined the living by cleaning up and putting on some fresh clothes. Time for some dinner.

More to come . . .

Note the the video didn't upload on Blogger. I'm going to have to play around with that or get a Vimeo account going tomorrow.

We also ended up having a big night anyway on Day 1. Dinner turned into walking to the Eiffel Tower -- quite a trek. And then getting some sushi. More to come. But now it is almost midnight in Paris and it is definitely time for some sleep.

Sushi in Paris? I hope it was Parisian sushi or came with a serious pastry! : ) I can't believe you're there and there's a beautiful picture to prove it! Sarah, you look way too good to have been on a looong plane ride just hours before. Don't take too much time blogging, but I look forward to hearing more!
