Day 1 Part 2 . . . Yes we did more . . .

We should have been in bed already but instead we rallied and went to the Eiffel Tower last night. Why would we? After 28 hours of no sleep? The weather. As predicted we woke up today to drizzle, rain, clouds, and cold (among other things that will come in a future post) -- how it is supposed to be the remainder of our time in Paris. Last night as predicted was clear.

So at 8pm local time we walked for approximately 60 minutes (~2.5 to 3 miles) to the Eiffel Tower -- objects appear closer than they really are. The walk was pleasant and the weather brisk. Along the way we saw a paddle boat on the Seine labeled Tennessee . . . The American South alive an well in France (sorry for poor image quality but your mind will fill in the detail).

Also along the way in minute 50 of our walk, the Eiffel Tower put on a light show. On the hour, the Eiffel Tower flashes thousands of strobe lights creating a shimmering effect. Normally it is cast in a blue hue at night.

We got to the Tower, grabbed a ticket for the second floor, and after waiting 45 minutes got our ride on the north tower elevator. From there we captured some images and took some video. We then took the stairs down the Tower to exit (because we didn't want to wait 30 minutes in line to ride the elevator down). We grabbed a cab back to our hotel area and went to grab some dinner.

Apparently we are staying in an area where a lot of Asian folks live or chose to stay while in Paris. There are probably 10 sushi places within 2 blocks of our hotel and 5 noddle places. The lines at 8pm, when we left to go to the Eiffel Tower were 30 people out the door at some places. So like an good tourist in France, we decided to go to a Japanese sushi restaurant. These images document the moment of contentment and fatigue after being up for 32 hours.

And that wrapped up Day 1 in Paris.

So beautiful! I hope you can run on adrenaline and cappuccino and keep the sleeping to a minimum so you can fit everything into your week. Take lots and lots and lots of pictures and then some more. Can't wait to see them!

Awesome share of info. 32 hours of no sleep, and you both look great. Yeaaa, sleep when you get back.
